The Heathens, Arma Secreta and Jon Auer!
Arma Secreta is featured on Scenestars "Band Spot" this morning. "Arma Secreta is a brilliant onslaught of precision wound math rock." Quite. Check it out.

In other "records we're going for adds on this week" news The Heathens got a nice write up on Some Velvet Blog on Friday. SVB calls their debut album (going for adds June 19th and 20th!) "deceptively good" going on to say, "It's familiar yet fresh, and it reminds me of vintage stuff from The Rave-Ups, The Silos, and while they'll definitely be compared to Gram Parsons and Ryan Adams, The Heathens' lead singer and songwriter Matt Butcher has one of those matter-of-fact tear at your heart singing styles that works its way in to your soul." You can go here for more!

Finally Jon Auer's first solo full length Songs From The Year of Our Demise finally got a Tiny Mix Tapes review. grigsby writes, "in true Posies fashion, though, this album will likely be overlooked, which is a shame, as Songs From The Year of Our Demise is an album of cloudy-day pop that's hard to top." Final Fantasy is Band Of The Day on Spin.com!
Final Fantasy's Owen Pallett scored a video game at the age of 12, three movies by the age of 16 and two operas by the age of 21. After becoming "bored with the guitar" the Toronto native plugged in his violin to a looping pedal and created Final Fantasy, a band named after the dramatic video game series. After a short tour with the then-unknown band The Arcade Fire Pallett got to work on his first full length Final Fantasy Has A Good Home. He also found time to arrange strings for The Arcade Fire's debut Funeral and play on two releases from The Hidden Cameras. Last month saw the release of Pallett's amazing sophomore release He Poos Clouds on German label Tomlab. You can hear tracks from the record and vote for Final Fantasy on Spin.com!

Team Clermont's Songs of The Week: The Heavy Blinkers and Venice Is Sinking!
Another Thursday without a new episode of LOST to be discussed... life is rough. What makes it that much more endurable though is these two sweet tracks. Because Venice Is Sinking and Heavy Blinkers are such critical darlings, I'm just gonna let the good people in the press world do the talking for me.

"Athens, Ga.'s Venice Is Sinking come across as the paradigmatic endearingly amateurish indie-pop band, complete with a cute girl on viola and some harmony vocals. "Pulaski Heights," from their upcoming "Sorry About the Flower," kills with kindness, a sweet and temperate summer breeze of a song." - Salon.com

"From the opening minutes of "Pulaski Heights," it becomes readily apparent how adept the members of Venice is Sinking are at crafting their sonically opulent Americana. Karolyn Troupe presents as the band's secret weapon, her viola alone (or violin, depending on the track) providing more than enough hook to snare any pop aficionado. If that's not enough, the beautifully hazed dual-vocal approach of Troupe and band leader/guitarist Daniel Lawson nestles gently into the din, at times both voices swelling and ebbing as though they were one." - Adequecy.net

Check out "Pulaski Heights"

Not to be out done, check out this heavy praise for Canada's Heavy Blinkers.

"The Heavy Blinkers is the best album of suite-like grandeur since the last Olivia Tremor Control record" - Magnet

"It just seems too lazy to merely say 'The Night and I Are Still So Young continues in the band's adoption of post-Pet Sounds production techniques' since there is - and always has been - so much more to this group than these kind of comparisons let on" - CokeMachineGlow

"The album goes beyond simple accomplishment, however, and into the realm of masterwork thanks to the production and pure genius arrangements. From beginning to end, The Heavy Blinkers is guileless delight. But more than that, it is a tour-de-force of unequalled pop excellence." - Rolling Stone.com

Conner's Hello Graphic Missile adds today!
Conner's third album, out June 20th on Sonic Boom Recordings, is at radio now and going for adds. The Lawrence, Kansas band have been a well kept secret in hometown Lawrence, Kansas for quite some time. Local station KJHK calls Conner,
"one of Lawrence's brightest new bands. Equal parts Iggy Pop, The Clash and the Velvet Underground, the band's songs have the distinct ability to wedge themselves in your brain like a needle in Keith Richards' forearm. Live, the band is a raucous riffage-machine driven by the nimble fingers of lead guitarist Tom Wagner and the sounds-before-words vocals of James Duft. Screw moving to New York City: Conner gives ample reason to stay in Lawrence.”
Needless to say the band won The Kansas City Star’s local album of the year. Later on today they'll be playing a free in-store at Streetside Records in Kansas City, MO before their all ages CD release show at Lawrence's Granada Theater next Saturday.
